Underneath the core of the Earth, 700 kilometers underground between the Earth's surface and its core, there is a giant supply of water. In fact, the amount of water stored is three times the volume of all oceans. All of this water is being held in a kind of blue rock called "ringwoodite". This discovery is said to explain where Earth's oceans came from. There are two theories: either water came in comets as they struck the planet or the oceans seeped through the crust of the early Earth. The underground water also acts as a buffer for the ocean which explains how it has stayed the same size for millions of years.
Just think about the fish in the deep deep sea ABOVE the crust of the Earth:
If possible, what would animals in this underground ocean look like?
